Britton William Frost is a mystic philosopher, award-winning drummer, and spiritual mentor based in the Verde Valley of Arizona, USA. He founded “Overthought Consulting” after serving as an unofficial staff counselor in every job he has ever had, being described by students, peers, and coworkers as a master of listening, understanding, and “finding the right words” in any interpersonal interaction, as well as pinpointing root causes of organizational inefficiency.
Britton was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and raised in the Catholic region of southeast Louisiana where he was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church at age 10. Leading up to that, he had already begun a conscious journey, seeking to refine his understanding of truth, goodness, and beauty, given the contrast of values between the community, his childhood home, and himself. He was determined to be highly gifted at an early age and was a remarkable underachiever in school, feeling that his niche was well outside the norm. He preferred to direct his attention toward music, acting, athletics, and his private intellectual pursuits. After high school, he served as a volunteer firefighter for a few years while taking college credits in psychology and writing. After deciding not to pursue a full-time career in the fire service, albeit earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Protection Technologies, he went to work as a safety official in motorsports and study philosophy at University of New Orleans. He soon graduated with his philosophy BA, with minors in psychology and geography. His thesis was about the crucial differences between artificial intelligence and human nature, and it is proving quite relevant today.
Britton continued to work in motorsports and the film industry for the next few years until the call for further education came. He was eventually accepted to study at the University of Buckingham in the UK under renowned conservative philosopher Sir Roger Scruton. Less than two years later, his thesis on philosophy of humor earned him an elite Master of Research degree in philosophy with Scruton as his mentor and thesis advisor. While he had also become a popular stand-up comedian and drummer on the underground London art scene, he considered staying for good. His Louisiana-based band Guns of the Seneca had just won WigWam Radio’s “Single of the Year” award out of 40k submissions for a song on their debut album Citizens of the Universe, and they embarked on a run of performances before Britton’s UK shoegaze/alternative band went on hiatus, and he returned to his homeland.
Since then, Britton has traveled to and lived in various places in the United States, serving humanity in a variety of ways, including but not limited to teaching philosophy and psychology to students of all ages, counseling those in existential crisis, writing/recording/performing music, and providing life mentorship for young adults with autism, traumatic brain injuries, and addiction. He continues to work in the safety realm as a zipline guide, helping people to have fun while overcoming their fears, and as a private consultant, improving systematic ways for navigating business, relationships, and life. His experience in these as well as several other industries has led to relationships with people from very different backgrounds, proving his impeccable understanding of the differences and similarities among all individuals and groups, as well as to see every thought, decision, and activity in life as a meditation which can serve the betterment of humankind.
This unique combination of work and life experiences has led Britton back to school for PhD research in the philosophy of mind and organizational psychology. He is currently seeking opportunities to fund his research and beta-test his unique organizational development system, which will be integral to his dissertation.
In his spare time, Britton enjoys motorcycle track days, target archery, tennis, eclectic dive bars, and going on road trips with his lady and cat.
